Music: Brandy - Sirens

After Aaliyah's death, it seemed like the "Superfriends" clique worked less collectively as a group as time passed and started doing their own thing. Ginuwine ventured out and started working with other producers, Missy started writing for other artists like Monica and Tweet, Timbaland focused on his Beat Club label and of course, Playa had their conflicts with not only their label but also conflict within the group. As everyone drifted apart, we began to notice arguably the best songwriting/production duo in music missing in action. (Static and Timbaland). In fact, Static was nowhere to be found on Timbaland's 2003 album " Under Construction, Part II ", after being a huge part of Timbaland's earlier albums. Fortunately for us though, Timbaland and Static did work on a couple of tracks together. You may already know about this song, but it was a bonus track so some of ya'll may have not heard it before. This song is a banger! I still have no idea wh...

Music: Playa - Cheers 2 U

There's nothing I can really say about this joint, but that it's a classic. If you claim to be a die hard Static fan and you don't know this song, well...lol Playa - Cheers 2 U This song is a straight up R&B classic. From Timbaland's triple time beat, to the bell sample (which would appear later on tracks by Ginuwine, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake), to the sax, to the echoed "Oh's", to Smokey and Black singing their hearts out, and then finally to Static's killer falsetto. And as usual, here is the instrumental. And a quick site update, I've added a bunch of tracks for the music player. Go take a listen while you're browsing the page.

Static Major - Suppertime (ALBUM COVER)

Came across this somewhere. I'm still trying to find out if this is the real cover, but it seemed to have come from a reliable place. It also looks authentic.

Happy Birthday Static Major!

He would have been 35 today. For this special occasion, I'm going to have to bring out the Timbaland/Playa classic "Birthday", off Timbaland's album "Tim's Bio: Life from da Bassment".

Music: Southernaire All-Stars - I Believe (feat. Static Major)

You may or may not remember this Timbaland produced song from back in the day, but it is definitely a banger! The track was done by The Southernaire All-Stars, and it also features Static Major who does the hook and also raps on the track. The Southernaire All-Stars was a rap group that consisted of Yaushameen, Native and J-Bird. Their album was to be executively produced by Static Major, Jomo and Barry Hankerson. For some reason though, their album was never released. I'm now listening to this track, wondering to myself...what could have been? This is absolute fire. What do you think of this song? EDIT: And for the beat lovers, here is the instrumental:

Music: Static Major - Illusion (Video tribute by Tim Barnett and I)

Background Info: Static's best friend/manager, Tim Barnett messaged me a couple of days ago and asked if I would be interested in making a tribute for Static Major. So we started throwing around ideas for the video and here is what we have. For those who don't know, the final version of the song is performed by Pleasure P, and is on his debut album, "The Introduction of Marcus Cooper". The song was written by Static Major and produced by Rudy Sandapa. 1 "I'm a Beast" (featuring Yung Joc) 2 "Boyfriend #2" 3 "Tender Roni (Handcuffin)" 4 "Under" 5 "Let Me" 6 "Gotta Have You" 7 "Did You Wrong" 8 "Your Love" 9 "Fire Lovin'" 10 "Birthday Suit" 11 "Illusion" 12 "Dream in the Air" Note: Static also wrote "Fire Lovin'".
