Static Major Is Music

Here is a rare exclusive for everyone. We've all heard Bassment material by Playa, Missy (Sista), Ginuwine, Timbalad & Magoo but we've never heard anything from Sugah. So today we present to you "Sugar and Spice" which was produced by Timbaland and written by Missy Elliott. Some of the Aaliyah fans may recognize this title because Jomo Hankerson spoke about the song in an article back in the day: "In the process of recording One in a Million, we got a demo from Timbaland and Missy. The song was called “Sugar and Spice,” which felt a little too kiddie to us, but the structure of the record, the melody, had what became Tim’s signature triplebeat on it. We were overwhelmed, and we sent it to Aaliyah. She called us back like, The track is crazy, this is the best thing I’ve ever heard. So we flew Timbaland and Missy into Detroit to work with her." The loss of Aaliyah 9 years ago still affects a lot of people including myself today. Not only did we lose an R&B artist who was on the verge of superstardom, we also lost a risk taking and trend setting person who inspired millions around the world with her voice. Luckily for us though, Aaliyah left behind plenty of music, tons of footage and a bunch of photos. So instead of being sad over this day, we should celebrate the legacy that she has left behind and know that her music will continue to be played for years to come. Rest in peace Aaliyah!

As we all know, Static & Aaliyah were close, you can feel the chemistry between the writer and the singer, and Static most impressive talent was his ability to write for a woman, to express a woman's feeling. So there's the song "Questions" produced by Buddha, wrote & sung by Static, a demo song for Aaliyah, made around 2000-2001 i think. I don't know yet if she had the chance to record it for herself, but Static version shows his falsetto skills, he wrote for a woman, & even sing the demo like Aaliyah should sing it, amazing! Yaushameen again... This time Aaliyah is on the track. I don't know if there's a Static's touch on the song but, like DeVante did with Da Bassment, Static did a little bit of it by creating Southernaire Allstars. Pushing artists on the scene, & especially puttin Louisville up, & no matter what the money he did, no matter what famous he became, he never forget about his peeps, about his original crew.

Nice to see that G gave a little shout out to Static in the video too.

What's up everyone? I have been listening to Aaliyah's Red Album a lot lately, and it still amazes me how this album never gets old. I want you to enjoy this song with me: Extra Smooth, one of my all-time favorites. Don't forget next week is Aaliyah's death anniversary. Here is the second Aaliyah refresher for everyone. It actually took me a while to LOVE this song, especially when I compare it to "We Need A Resolution" and "Don't Know What To Tell Ya". It still hasn't really completely caught onto me yet, but I know a lot of people love this song. Nevertheless, ths song does contain great lyrics courtesy of Static and the video is great; Aaliyah looked GREAT in this video. So with the announcement by Neeze about those Aaliyah demos being found, I figured this would be a great time to refresh everyone's memories on some of the songs. Today we have "Never No More" which was produced by Bud'da. This is one of the most powerful Static-penned songs EVER and really showcases Aaliyah's vocals. And that bridge with Aaliyah and Static going off? Crazy! One can only imagine how Static sounded on the track by himself. Like I told Neeze earlier, if his falsetto is anything like it was in "Questions" then we're all in for a real treat. What are your thoughts on this song? As we showed you earlier , there were a bunch of songs on that Aaliyah CD that Neeze showed us, and one of them was called "Danc'n". Is this the same track? You betcha it is. This song by E.T. And here is some background information about the song, straight from ET himself: As far as the story behind recording Danc'in. When the family got back from Australia, everybody set up shop in LA to mix the Aaliyah album. We were in the studio one day (Digital Black, KeyBeats & Selfish). Black & E. Seats pulled up the track and told us to go to work on it. The song already had Aaliyah's vocals on it from when Digital Black wrote the song in Australia. So of course when KeyBeats & Black offered it to us, we wanted to kill it. We wanted everybody to here it and relate. We wanted to make you feel like you were in the club, on the dance...

Since we have noticed that a lot of people have shown a huge interest in the 'new' Aaliyah song, and because you have all been very patient with us, we've decided to dedicate another post to it and give you some more background information on the song. Danc'n, along with the other songs we have previously informed you about, was recorded in Australia at the time Aaliyah was filming 'Queen of the Damned' and recording her self-titled 'Aaliyah' album. Since she was so busy filming her movie, Static and her other producers and songwriters had to fly in to Australia. The songs Aaliyah did with Timbaland were not recorded in Australia however. The song was produced by Keybeats, probably well known to you, and Digital Black 'composed another sheet to this'... Lastly, to everyone who hasn't already joined our Ning network yet, we strongly advise you to join asap, because you never know what you might find over there.... And here is a fan-made video...

So if you're a big Static fan, you should already be familiar with the classic "Red Album", otherwise known as the Aaliyah - Aaliyah album. Well here is something Neeze decided to share with everybody. This CD contains all of the recordings that Aaliyah did while recording the album in Australia. Some of you may be asking, where are the Timbaland joints? Well, songs like "We Need A Resolution" were done after the trip to Australia. From that list, we know tracks #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9. So you're probably wondering to yourself, what about the other tracks? Were they Aaliyah songs? I can confirm with you that a bunch of them were Aaliyah songs. We will be on the hunt for them...

It seems that even to this day, I continue to discover songs that I like that I didn't even know were written by Static. This Aaliyah collaboration with DMX appeared on the "Romeo Must Die" soundtrack. Static had a big involvement overall on the soundtrack, and I'll be highlighting more of the songs later on.
