Da Bassment Compilation: Playa - Come On Girl

EDIT: The song is actually called "Come On Girl". Thank you to Smokey for pointing that out. Here is a snippet (get used to that word because most of the cassette contains snippets Lol) of the song "Come On Girl" by Playa. The song was produced by Darryl Pearson. Da Bassment - Sexual Healing by StaticMajorIsMusic Static absolutely destroys the track! Even though Static is great at switching up his style from track to track, at times I wished he just sang songs like this all the time because his voice was truly special. You can also hear Smokey singing on the second verse before the song fades out and Black is doing adlibs on the whole song.

Music: Timbaland & Magoo - Luv 2 Luv Ya (feat. Playa)

So we're going to feature the original and remix to the song Luv 2 Luv Ya. Even though one is a remix, they're essentially different songs with a different vibe, different lyrics and even a different female rapper. First we have the original featuring Smokey and Static on the bridge and St Nick (also known as Nikki from the Ginuwine song "Holler") You may or may not know that the hook of that song is actually from the Donna Summer song "Love To Love You Baby" And then we have the remix of the song which was released as a single. This one features Shauna and has Playa doing backgrounds on the hook. Which version do you prefer?

Music: Playa - Stressin'

Here is an unreleased Playa song from back in the day. I don't know any background behind this song, so Neeze can fill us in on the track. I don't believe Static is on this track, but it's still a nice jam. Make sure you listen to the interview we did with the other 2 members of Playa. Music: Al Green - Could This Be The Love (1995) (UPDATE With Instrumental)

Legendary Al Green released "Your Heart In Good Hands" album in 95. For DeVante who produced the song "Could This Be The Love", it was an honor, and what did he do??? He introduced again his fav Da Bassment artist: Playa ! They're on the hook & on the bridge with incredible vocals, Smokey is the one we can hear the most, Renee Anderson from Da Bassment is on the end of the track too. It's great to see a legend like Al Green putting his trust in the younger generation, props to DeVante for doin a song that fits perfectly with the old school style & the newest style that Playa brings. And here's a Live performance for y'all (just skip the 35 sec ad at the beginning of the video): P.S: Maybe soon i can come with an extra for this post, stay tune. Update: Thx to my man Stingy Boy for providing the instrumental, enjoy!

Album: Playa - Throwback Legendz

I'm sure a lot of you have already heard most, if not all, of the album. Smokey has been selling it on his website and I've also been uploading the songs on Youtube. So instead of choosing one of those two options, we've decided to let everyone download this unreleased classic album for free. And I bet a lot of you could probably care less because you've heard every song already right? Wrong. Check out the final version of "Hollywood" that was not included in Smokey's unreleased Playa compilation. So consider this an exclusive courtesy of www.staticmajorismusic.com Big shout-out to Farid for hooking me up with this track and also the entire album in CDQ. http://www.4shared.com/file/H5qAKnAu/Playa_-Throwback_Legendz__2002.html

Music: Playa: Live (Mixtape)

http://www.4shared.com/file/1WkuM_70/Playa_-_Live.html I don't know if this is really considered a mixtape, but there seemed to be a demand for all of Playa's live performances in mp3 format, so I've decided to put it together for everyone. In this folder, you'll find every song Playa performed on BET's Planet Groove, and also Static/Smokey's piano version of "If U Scared, Say U Scared." And of course, I've also put in a bonus track for everyone; so check it out!

Music: Playa - Never too late (remix)

I think I owe you all some new music after the lack of updates, so here you go: this is a remix to one of my favorite Playa tracks, Never too Late. I have no idea who produced this. Which version do you prefer, the original or the remix? *Once again props to Neeze for giving us a chance to hear new music! original (prod. by Static and Smokey) remix

Music: Jodeci - Can We Flo?

Once again, let's just start from the begining! Jodeci days, & you know DeVante likes to put his protege in the spolight, in videos cameo or in Jodeci songs. This time let's talk about that 95 album "The Show, The After-Party, The Hotel" In this album, you got the best out of the Bassment crew: Timbaland, Missy, Stevie J. & Playa. Just remember on a smokey interview, he said that sometimes DeVante woke up one of them to come & record vocals instead of K-Ci or JoJo, & no matter what time of the night (or early in the morning) they had to do it, no second chance for the lazy boys. So here's Playa doin some background in the song Can We Flo? . We can hear some Playa harmonies in the hook behind JoJo's lead vocals, & on the bridge at the end, the "ooooh" is done by Playa, & again DeVante shout out Static "Yo Static get my fur out of the closet G", thats' what i'm talkin about, DeVante was about to do it big with ...

Music: Playa - I'm Available (Updated With Single Artwork)

Another Playa joint for everyone. This one is produced by Timbaland. *Slam Edit: Neeze sent over some pictures of the promo single for this song, enjoy!

Music: Playa "Left U A Message" featuring G-No The Latin Bird (Unreleased Playa Song)

My man G-No recently leaked this snippet of an unreleased Playa song that have his vocals featured on it. The full version of the song features a verse from Static and two from G-No. From what I'm hearing, this song has potential to be great, it's really smooth! G-No's new album "Latin & Blues" will be released soon and features a duet with Bizzy Bone from Bone Thugs N Harmony.

Music: Playa - Don't Stop The Music (Instrumental)

Static Major Is Music announcement: Despite never being officially announced, I'm sure it was already quite obvious that Dimu is part of the team. Even though he doesn't do any postings for the blog, he's helped us out with numerous interviews, and has also done a lot of behind the scenes stuff. Plus it was also his birthday yesterday, so here's a treat for him because I know he loves instrumentals a lot. Check out this sick Timstrumental, big ups to the folks at www.thomascrownchronicles.com for this hook up.

Music: Playa - "Don't Stop The Music" + "Cheers 2 U" Singles

After listening to some Bassment tracks, let's just get back to Playa for a moment... Playa - Don't Stop The Music (CDS-1997) 1. Don't Stop The Music (Radio Edit) (3:26) 2. Don't Stop The Music (Snippet) (1:19) I-65 (Snippet) (1:39) One Man Woman Feat. Aaliyah Haughton (Snippet) (1:30) Push (Snippet) (1:28) Together (Snippet) (1:06) All The Way (Snippet) (1:33) Like you see, except the "radio edit" of the track wich isn't an explicit version, nothin is new, & you might wonder why they put the "radio edit" & a "snippet" of the same song "Don't Stop The Music"? Well i don't know the answer lol, but all i know is the "snippet" version has a different mix at the begining. I'll be giving away the snippet at the Skype session on tomorrow, so stay tune! The instrumental of the track (posted right before i wanted to, Buddha read my mind, it's scary lol), only available on 12" singl...

Music: Da Bassment - Ain't Nothin' But A B-Party

So on this track, we have Timbaland, Magoo, Static, Smokey and Black all on one track. For the people that don't know, this was going to be the first single off the Bassment compilation that Devante was going to put out. This material has never been on the internet...until now, all thanks to my man Neeze. A lot of you may recognize the hook because they reused the hook for the song "Smoke In Da Air" off Timbaland & Magoo's first album "Welcome To Our World". Exclusive song is provided by Neeze, courtesy of Swatt Music

Question Of The Week #10: "Playa - Never Too Late" Got Something From?

We can't talk about Playa without mention Jodeci, i'm speaking for myself as a Jodeci follower first, but i think everybody should feel the same about if you love Playa, you also love Jodeci. We can still hear some of Jodeci in Playa, they learnt a lot from them, especially from DeVante for Static. Ok we all know about that song, but there is something that i never really noticed on that track, there's a part in "Never Too Late" that comes from a Jodeci song, so i wanna put y'all to work, & find out wich Jodeci song i'm talkin about, we'll see who the real Da Bassment lovers are!
