Question Of The Week #10: "Playa - Never Too Late" Got Something From?

We can't talk about Playa without mention Jodeci, i'm speaking for myself as a Jodeci follower first, but i think everybody should feel the same about if you love Playa, you also love Jodeci.
We can still hear some of Jodeci in Playa, they learnt a lot from them, especially from DeVante for Static.
Ok we all know about that song, but there is something that i never really noticed on that track, there's a part in "Never Too Late" that comes from a Jodeci song, so i wanna put y'all to work, & find out wich Jodeci song i'm talkin about, we'll see who the real Da Bassment lovers are!

  1. on the bridge part where they say "shake it shake it", comes from JoJo singing "tasty tasty" from the 2nd verse of "Let's Do it All"

  2. But on that same part in "Never Too Late", Static mirrors the 'tasty tasty' part and expands on it in his own way as well...

  4. Playa sang for Jodeci. When one of the jodeci members didn't show up to the studio they sang the part sounding like JoJo or K-ci(as told to me by one of the Playa members). Remember Jodeci wasn't just a group of 4 singers it was a whole collective of artists . Thats why it was called Diary of A Mad Band

Tipsy (3:23) I've heard back in 2005 somebody talk about that "Suppertime Mixtape", but i found it in 2008, & unfortunaly, the mixtape was just available in mp3 format. Released with no real promotion (but Louisville resident as i know, had this mixtape for a while), i guess lot of us didn't know about it until lately. This is for the hood lovers, got Lil Flip on it, Young Sears productions, it's OG Music here! We also got Playa songs on it. I guess Static wanted to give us just a taste of what Suppertime could be, the "Vol. 1" meaned it had to has other volume coming, but for this one like i said, it's OG Music except the last track... Edit: You can listen & buy the mixtape here U...

Taura "Aura" Jackson talks about "Crazy" and Static Major

I've posted some information on the blog exclusive joint "Crazy" by Aura already, but I figured it would make more sense if we heard it straight from her, because she was actually there. So here is the very talented Aura talking about the history of the track: I was signed to Atlantic at the time. Gee Roberson was my A&R and he manages Kanye. Kanye came to the studio and had forgotten his records, but I'm an avid Joni Mitchell fan and had some of her records there. It was like magic watching Kanye work. He crafted that beat like it was a priceless sculpture. When it started to come together Gee, who managed Static at that time too said "What do you think about Static co-writing with you?" Well, I was ecstatic, pun fully intended. Within an hour or so, Static came over. I was fully aware and familiar with his work with Playa, Aaliyah, Genuine and he had also written my girl Truth Hurts super sick single "Addicted", so I was excited. He came in...
