Interview: Pretty Ricky

While we're still waiting on the details about the interview with Ginuwine, I am happy to announce and confirm that we will be interviewing Diamond Blue of Pretty Ricky on Tuesday. So post your questions! Edit: Unfortunately I will not be there for the interview, so we will not be able to stream it live. Neeze and Slam will still be conducting the interview and the interview will be posted soon after on the blog.

Music: Pretty Ricky - On The Hotline (Instrumental)

Here is the instrumental to the Rudy produced smash hit "On The Hotline" by Pretty Ricky The beat in the song is a combination of samples taken from the Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets", Grandmaster Flash's "The Message" and Newcleus' "Jam On It", not to mention Rick James' hit single Mary Jane. I should also mention again that Static wrote an entirely different song called "After Dark" to the same beat.

Music: Pretty Ricky - Get You Right

Here is a nice slow jam by Pretty Ricky. Static really did a great job on the first two Pretty Ricky albums, providing them with a nice mixture of slow and fast tracks. And although most of the songs were sex driven, he was able to make each song different. And while you're listening to Pretty Ricky, check out their new single "Cookie Cutter". Be on the look out for an interview with Diamond Blue of Pretty Ricky coming soon!

G.No Interview with Lingerie of Pretty Ricky

I just found this interview that G.No conducted with Pretty Ricky's new leadsinger Lingerie. Since it touched on the subject of Static I thought I'd post it here. Enjoy!

Music: Pretty Ricky - Too Young

Here is a bonus track off Pretty Ricky's 2nd album Late Night Special. You can probably already tell by the chorus that Static wrote this joint. I still think it's amazing how Static was able to create hits with any artist.

Music: Pretty Ricky - On The Hotline

However, let's not forget what kind of material before the breakup and also before Static passed away. "On The Hotline" is one of those smashes that most of us were probably ashamed to like, because it was by Pretty Ricky. But there's no denying how infectious and catchy the hook is. And here's some background info about the song from the VIBE article: LIL D : “Hotline,” from my understanding, Pretty Ricky didn’t like. They were like, “Man, we don’t talk like that.” And that song was huge for them. Static had a way of getting people to do stuff you really didn’t want to do. And from our very own Tim Barnett, he told us Static actually wrote an entirely different song to the beat, but felt he could make an even bigger song; and that is what you hear today. ...
