  1. I'm sure I won't win a "most creative question" award for this one but..ask him what his impression was of Static when he first met him. Not necessarily just his first impression, jus in general when they first started bein around each other.. And how they met.

  3. Does he plan on working with Timbaland in the Future?

  4. looking forward to this...should be interesting!

  5. Can he and Black get together and do a couple of club dates or something? I just want to let you guys know that pound for pound, Playa is one of the greatest groups I have ever heard. Not only could EVERY member sing (and I mean KILL it), but the material was tight as hell. The runs on the Cheers to You album are just plain ridiculous. There's a lot of us who feel this way about y'all.

  8. @ Jerrilyn, I totally agree. Wasn't there for the first go round. Would love to see them in VA! Ask Smokey how he feels about his success now looking back at how hard he worked...from Da Bassment Days onward. Also, does he feel it's hard to stay relevant in the music business?

    ReplyDelete
  9. you can ask him about his production, how he got into making beats & what were some things he picked up being around the other Bassment producers (DeVante, Dalvin, Tim, Stevie J ...)

    ReplyDelete
  10. also ask about the process of writing & producing the Cheers 2 U album

  11. Will this be posted the same day? I have to go in for a couple of hours and will miss it.

  15. I have read a lot of different interviews that suggest that you and Static were not on good terms and had not been for years. Would you mind elaborating on that? I know how gossip is and I would just like to hear it from the Horses mouth so to speak.... BTW...I love your music. Angel is my favorite.

  25. Thanks for putting this interview together guys,I have always been a big supporter of your music Smoke i remember when you first released personal pain and pleasure i recieved the actual cd in the mail and you had signed a picture of yourself in there. Also you not only did that but because it was released a little late you sent an exclusive track to me. I just wanna say thankyou Smoke it's that type of interaction with your fans that means so much to us, i got all your albums and will continue to support true R&B not only with my words but like you said with my actions. 1. Stay Laced (Featuring Lil Flip) (4:14) 2. The Hood (Featuring Lil Flip) (3:41) 3. Rida (Featuring Lil Flip & Cassidy) (2:45) 4. She Say (Featuring Playa) (3:58) 5. Rollin (3:49) 6. Tipsy (3:23) I've heard back in 2005 somebody talk about that "Suppertime Mixtape", but i found it in 2008, & unfortunaly, the mixtape was just available in mp3 format. Released with no real promotion (but Louisville resident as i know, had this mixtape for a while), i guess lot of us didn't know about it until lately. This is for the hood lovers, got Lil Flip on it, Young Sears productions, it's OG Music here! We also got Playa songs on it. I guess Static wanted to give us just a taste of what Suppertime could be, the "Vol. 1" meaned it had to has other volume coming, but for this one like i said, it's OG Music except the last track... Edit: You can listen & buy the mixtape here U

Music: Static Major - Questions (Aaliyah's Demo) (UPDATE WITH FULL SONG)

As we all know, Static & Aaliyah were close, you can feel the chemistry between the writer and the singer, and Static most impressive talent was his ability to write for a woman, to express a woman's feeling. So there's the song "Questions" produced by Buddha, wrote & sung by Static, a demo song for Aaliyah, made around 2000-2001 i think. I don't know yet if she had the chance to record it for herself, but Static version shows his falsetto skills, he wrote for a woman, & even sing the demo like Aaliyah should sing it, amazing! Stay tune for a snippet listening, something rare that i'm sure you don't wanna miss! UPDATE: Here is the first installment of Static Music Monday.

Album: Playa - Throwback Legendz

I'm sure a lot of you have already heard most, if not all, of the album. Smokey has been selling it on his website and I've also been uploading the songs on Youtube. So instead of choosing one of those two options, we've decided to let everyone download this unreleased classic album for free. And I bet a lot of you could probably care less because you've heard every song already right? Wrong. Check out the final version of "Hollywood" that was not included in Smokey's unreleased Playa compilation. So consider this an exclusive courtesy of www.staticmajorismusic.com Big shout-out to Farid for hooking me up with this track and also the entire album in CDQ. http://www.4shared.com/file/H5qAKnAu/Playa_-Throwback_Legendz__2002.html
