Suppertime: Listening Party Recap

I'm telling you guys, it was a ball! We played a bunch of joints from Suppertime, and then Neeze rolled in and started playing a bunch of unreleased stuff.

- An old JoJo track called "Bad Boy"
- A Brandy joint produced by Dr Dre, written by Static
- A huge amount of records from Static's library

All in all, for those that no showed, you guys missed out on a lot.

But everyone deserves a second chance. We'll have more listening parties in the future. And check this out, if we get a huge amount of people on Skype, Neeze will play stuff from...

...

DA BASSMENT era.

  5. Wassup Guys! I just want to say that i am so glad i found this site! I have always been a Playa fan and not until last week, when i was looking for somewhere to listen to Playa's Your Dress, had i ran into this site linking it! I was soo happy b/c i could not find it ANYWHERE! and from there this site really showed me the man behind all those RAW harmonies that drew me to Playa's music! THANK YOU GUYS for spreading the word and information about Static Major. I have been promoting his name more now that i have learned about how crazy a arranger and a song writer he was. Is there a e-mail list for this site that you guys send out for new updates or something? If so i would like to be added. Keep up the good work and i am lookin out for the next listening party. I would really like to hear songs from Da Bassment era! That's when Playa and them were at their rawest in my opinion. YEE!

    a big fan from SF,
    Josh M

Music: Static Suppertime Mixtape Vol. 1 (2004) DOWNLOAD LINK

1. Stay Laced (Featuring Lil Flip) (4:14) 2. The Hood (Featuring Lil Flip) (3:41) 3. Rida (Featuring Lil Flip & Cassidy) (2:45) 4. She Say (Featuring Playa) (3:58) 5. Rollin (3:49) 6. Hard Tymez (Featuring Lil Flip) (2:40) 7. Weekend (Featuring Playa) (3:50) 8. Tipsy (3:23) I've heard back in 2005 somebody talk about that "Suppertime Mixtape", but i found it in 2008, & unfortunaly, the mixtape was just available in mp3 format. Released with no real promotion (but Louisville resident as i know, had this mixtape for a while), i guess lot of us didn't know about it until lately. This is for the hood lovers, got Lil Flip on it, Young Sears productions, it's OG Music here! We also got Playa songs on it. I guess Static wanted to give us just a taste of what Suppertime could be, the "Vol. 1" meaned it had to has other volume coming, but for this one like i said, it's OG Music except the last track... Edit: You can listen & buy the mixtape here U

Music: Static Major - Questions (Aaliyah's Demo) (UPDATE WITH FULL SONG)

As we all know, Static & Aaliyah were close, you can feel the chemistry between the writer and the singer, and Static most impressive talent was his ability to write for a woman, to express a woman's feeling. So there's the song "Questions" produced by Buddha, wrote & sung by Static, a demo song for Aaliyah, made around 2000-2001 i think. I don't know yet if she had the chance to record it for herself, but Static version shows his falsetto skills, he wrote for a woman, & even sing the demo like Aaliyah should sing it, amazing! Stay tune for a snippet listening, something rare that i'm sure you don't wanna miss! UPDATE: Here is the first installment of Static Music Monday.

Album: Playa - Throwback Legendz

I'm sure a lot of you have already heard most, if not all, of the album. Smokey has been selling it on his website and I've also been uploading the songs on Youtube. So instead of choosing one of those two options, we've decided to let everyone download this unreleased classic album for free. And I bet a lot of you could probably care less because you've heard every song already right? Wrong. Check out the final version of "Hollywood" that was not included in Smokey's unreleased Playa compilation. So consider this an exclusive courtesy of www.staticmajorismusic.com Big shout-out to Farid for hooking me up with this track and also the entire album in CDQ. http://www.4shared.com/file/H5qAKnAu/Playa_-Throwback_Legendz__2002.html
