Tim Barnett speaks on Aaliyah, For A Long Time, Da Bassment

Comments

  1. Much love to Neeze for doing this interview, because without him none of this would even matter. Same to the fellas running this site, because I can't think of anybody else doing this for to keeps Statics legacy and memory around for as long as humanly possible.

Now, for the song, and I don't think anybody is trying to knock the recorder of the song, but it don't change the fact that a great record was taken and fucked. It sounds like it was a leftover from some wack ass artists demo. And, even though I never knew Static, with all the hot music i've heard from him, I have a hard time believing he would let any of his records end up like this. And, maybe I wouldn't feel this way if i'd never heard Statics version, I don't know, but the "redo" is bullshit, it's terrible.

I can't even fathom how the song could have been fucked over like this, and i'm not taking into consideration what this song may have meant to Static, like I said I never knew him. I assume all of his music was important to him. I'm looking at this from being strictly a fan of his music, but to top it off that he is no longer here, and someone would do this shit without taking that into consideration.

    I'm done, now i'm mad B L

  2. Yea i feel u bruh, but ... God willin we won't see no more of these carbon copy Static tracks released. That just crosses all major lines of disrespect but.. I want to second that notion about Neezy and the rest of Team Static,, this site has been a dream come true for me, just real shit right there. My biggest fear after Static's tragedy was that ALLL his hard work would be either, (A) never released, whatsoever and/or (B) he would be forgotten..this site and the ning site are really..beyond my wildest dreams. I never thought I would see love for Static on this level. I really commend yall, and from addin some of yall on facebook, i'm seein some of the team is in Grad school, and u know.. people got real everyday lives and still contribute and put "major" work into the maintenance of this site, all on behalf of my favorite artist, a hometown cat at that. I can't thank yall enough.

In the words of my frat bruh Neezy Neeze, let's continue to keep it Static MAJOR.

    100

  3. Thx Team Static, especially Neeze..I really hope Timbo is down for the documentary as much as u cuz once da world gets a peep into the man who brought all those hits and helped changed the scene of RnB they will appreciate his craft and love for the music. It may even get to the point of th egreedfy industry wanting to release Suppertime to make money off of the documentary, which would have truly introduced Static to the world. So if the album comes out one way or another..I dont care long as a can be able to buy the cd and listen to it everyday all day. Much love to yall. Keep doin wat u do for me and the fans.

Music: Static Suppertime Mixtape Vol. 1 (2004) DOWNLOAD LINK

1. Stay Laced (Featuring Lil Flip) (4:14) 2. The Hood (Featuring Lil Flip) (3:41) 3. Rida (Featuring Lil Flip & Cassidy) (2:45) 4. She Say (Featuring Playa) (3:58) 5. Rollin (3:49) 6. Hard Tymez (Featuring Lil Flip) (2:40) 7. Weekend (Featuring Playa) (3:50) 8. Tipsy (3:23) I've heard back in 2005 somebody talk about that "Suppertime Mixtape", but i found it in 2008, & unfortunaly, the mixtape was just available in mp3 format. Released with no real promotion (but Louisville resident as i know, had this mixtape for a while), i guess lot of us didn't know about it until lately. This is for the hood lovers, got Lil Flip on it, Young Sears productions, it's OG Music here! We also got Playa songs on it. I guess Static wanted to give us just a taste of what Suppertime could be, the "Vol. 1" meaned it had to has other volume coming, but for this one like i said, it's OG Music except the last track... Edit: You can listen & buy the mixtape here U

Music: Static Major - Questions (Aaliyah's Demo) (UPDATE WITH FULL SONG)

As we all know, Static & Aaliyah were close, you can feel the chemistry between the writer and the singer, and Static most impressive talent was his ability to write for a woman, to express a woman's feeling. So there's the song "Questions" produced by Buddha, wrote & sung by Static, a demo song for Aaliyah, made around 2000-2001 i think. I don't know yet if she had the chance to record it for herself, but Static version shows his falsetto skills, he wrote for a woman, & even sing the demo like Aaliyah should sing it, amazing! Stay tune for a snippet listening, something rare that i'm sure you don't wanna miss! UPDATE: Here is the first installment of Static Music Monday.

Album: Playa - Throwback Legendz

I'm sure a lot of you have already heard most, if not all, of the album. Smokey has been selling it on his website and I've also been uploading the songs on Youtube. So instead of choosing one of those two options, we've decided to let everyone download this unreleased classic album for free. And I bet a lot of you could probably care less because you've heard every song already right? Wrong. Check out the final version of "Hollywood" that was not included in Smokey's unreleased Playa compilation. So consider this an exclusive courtesy of www.staticmajorismusic.com Big shout-out to Farid for hooking me up with this track and also the entire album in CDQ. http://www.4shared.com/file/H5qAKnAu/Playa_-Throwback_Legendz__2002.html
