Coming Soon: Shannon Miller Interview (Static/Da Bassment Era)

Dimu: StaticMajorIsMusic has caught up with Shannon “Big Shann” Miller. For those that are unaware, “Big Shann” served as tha Vice President For “DA BASSMENT” working alongside DeVante Swing to shape the vision of what has influenced the direction of music in the 90s/2000s & has elevated tha careers of Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Ginuwine, Tweet, Magoo, Playa & tha list goes on. Many of you remember him on tha album credits for Sista’s album back in ‘94 as well as his appearance in both of DeVante’s “Gin & Juice” videos. This man is a major contribution & major piece to tha puzzle that basically birthed tha style & sound of not only “Da Bassment” but R&B as a whole. He’s given us tha privilege of snatchin’ em up for a few ticks so we can get tha full scoop of what went down in the early days of Static’s career & “Da Bassment” crew. As some of you know, Farid & I hold down tha “Bassment/Jodeci” sector of Static’s legacy, so submit any questions you might have for this musical veteran."

  1. Whats good big homie? I hope that all is well. I know that you were a very intricate part to DA BASSMENT legacy.... My questionS to you are:

1.What was your first meeting with Static?

    2. What was your first impression of him as a person as well as an artist?

To all of the followers of the blog please take the time to ask Shannon a few questions. I can assure you that Static told me all about the crew and the experience. This guy was definately a "MAJOR" contributer to a "MAJOR" movement!!!!!!!

Tipsy (3:23) I've heard back in 2005 somebody talk about that "Suppertime Mixtape", but i found it in 2008, & unfortunaly, the mixtape was just available in mp3 format. Released with no real promotion (but Louisville resident as i know, had this mixtape for a while), i guess lot of us didn't know about it until lately. This is for the hood lovers, got Lil Flip on it, Young Sears productions, it's OG Music here! We also got Playa songs on it. I guess Static wanted to give us just a taste of what Suppertime could be, the "Vol. 1" meaned it had to has other volume coming, but for this one like i said, it's OG Music except the last track... Edit: You can listen & buy the mixtape here U

Music: Static Major - Questions (Aaliyah's Demo) (UPDATE WITH FULL SONG)

As we all know, Static & Aaliyah were close, you can feel the chemistry between the writer and the singer, and Static most impressive talent was his ability to write for a woman, to express a woman's feeling. So there's the song "Questions" produced by Buddha, wrote & sung by Static, a demo song for Aaliyah, made around 2000-2001 i think. I don't know yet if she had the chance to record it for herself, but Static version shows his falsetto skills, he wrote for a woman, & even sing the demo like Aaliyah should sing it, amazing! Stay tune for a snippet listening, something rare that i'm sure you don't wanna miss! UPDATE: Here is the first installment of Static Music Monday.

Album: Playa - Throwback Legendz

I'm sure a lot of you have already heard most, if not all, of the album. Smokey has been selling it on his website and I've also been uploading the songs on Youtube. So instead of choosing one of those two options, we've decided to let everyone download this unreleased classic album for free. And I bet a lot of you could probably care less because you've heard every song already right? Wrong. Check out the final version of "Hollywood" that was not included in Smokey's unreleased Playa compilation. So consider this an exclusive courtesy of www.staticmajorismusic.com Big shout-out to Farid for hooking me up with this track and also the entire album in CDQ. http://www.4shared.com/file/H5qAKnAu/Playa_-Throwback_Legendz__2002.html
