Smokey Performs "Cheers 2 U" Live and Shouts Out Static (3/6/10)

I had a chance to see Smokey perform last night out here in Hartford, CT. In his set, he did "Cheers 2 U" and paid tribute to Static in the middle of the song. I was really happy to hear him do that, and to be honest, I almost shed a tear. Not only did I hear him perform, but I had a chance to hang out with him and this dude is really cool and down to earth. Hope you enjoy the video, sorry for the poor quality, what do you think?

    I thnk he ripped it ( at which i'm def not surprised) but real talk it hurt me to see him performin that by hisself. I know he's a solo artist now, and so is digital (black), and i don't know what their relationship w/ each other is right now..but I woulda at least been a lil more comforted seein the 2 of em perform..nevertheless he held Stat down and I got "major" respect for him for doin that.

Released with no real promotion (but Louisville resident as i know, had this mixtape for a while), i guess lot of us didn't know about it until lately. This is for the hood lovers, got Lil Flip on it, Young Sears productions, it's OG Music here! We also got Playa songs on it. I guess Static wanted to give us just a taste of what Suppertime could be, the "Vol. 1" meaned it had to has other volume coming, but for this one like i said, it's OG Music except the last track... Taura "Aura" Jackson talks about "Crazy" and Static Major

I've posted some information on the blog exclusive joint "Crazy" by Aura already, but I figured it would make more sense if we heard it straight from her, because she was actually there. So here is the very talented Aura talking about the history of the track: I was signed to Atlantic at the time. Gee Roberson was my A&R and he manages Kanye. Kanye came to the studio and had forgotten his records, but I'm an avid Joni Mitchell fan and had some of her records there. It was like magic watching Kanye work. He crafted that beat like it was a priceless sculpture. When it started to come together Gee, who managed Static at that time too said "What do you think about Static co-writing with you?"
